Digitainment Georgia present the “Film Financing: It takes more than a great idea” program
with finance manager and board member of Digitainment Georgia Rohan Crawford and
writer, producer, director, and WIFTA’s vice-president of professional development Kathilynn
Phillips.
It takes more than a great idea to raise money for a film. Learn how to organize yourself and
pitch ideas for the business side of filmmaking. Panelist Rohan Crawford and Kathilynn
Phillips will discuss the changing world of film financing and their experiences. Wake up the
filmmaker in you on a different level by aggressively knowing the clear cost and having an
understanding of what it takes to create a film.

Rohan Crawford finance manager–Born in London and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Rohan Crawford received his BBA from the University of Georgia and his MBA from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University, both with a concentration in Finance. After receiving his MBA he worked as a Credit Analyst for The CIT Group, Inc. extending complex financing packages to companies across different industry sectors such as construction, high tech, healthcare, restaurants, casinos and non-profits. It was from his time at CIT where he got exposure to companies in the radio and broadcast TV space that sparked his interest in media. After leaving CIT he went to doing corporate finance-related consulting projects involving forecasting, budgeting and financial modeling for such companies as Coca-Cola North America, Microsoft, Health South and Golden Key International Honour Society. Rohan has been part of Digitainment Georgia’s board in 2009 as film alliances liaison building relationships with such groups and companies tied to the film industry. Rohan has gained a broader appreciation for the media space and has an interest in trans media projects that cover film, video games, interactive, technology and music.
Kathilynn Phillips writer/director/producer -An award-winning writer/filmmaker and former Assistant District Attorney, Kathilynn Phillips began her entertainment career as a screenwriter while living in the San Francisco Bay, California area in 1996. She subsequently moved to the Philadelphia area and then to Atlanta with her family where she operates three companies: Kat Scratch Films, Concentric Entertainment and Pairadocs Productions & Post. Her films, short and full length, have screened to thousands in 50 film festivals across the U.S. and Europe, garnering more than 20 awards. Some are available to rent and purchase on DVD, iTunes and YouTube. Additionally, in 2006, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences selected her as a semi-finalist for the Fellowship in Screenwriting. Kat is currently in development with a comedy series, sci-fi series and a movie for cable television.
