Announcing the 7th Annual “Lend Me an Ear”

Announcing the 7th Annual “Lend Me an Ear”, a night of old-time radio show recreations starring local AFTRA, SAG, and AEA performers, and a fundraiser for the Atlanta Community Food Bank! This year’s theme is “United We Stand!”, a celebration of all things united: these United States, marriage, comedy teams, unions, even the common tie that binds.

This year we are honored to have join our cast Georgia’s own Joel Godard, long-time announcer for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”.

The program includes the perennial favorite Fibber McGee and Molly; Screen Guild Theater’s “A Letter to 3 Wives”; New World a-Coming, a syndicated show from the ‘40s that dealt with Jim Crow and the Black experience, cutting edge material in its day; the children’s program Let’s Pretend with “The Princess and the Pea”; the naturalistic ‘50s comedy The Couple Next Door; and a segment from Abbott and Costello. And don’t forget the great songs from the period!

The show starts at 7:30PM on Monday, October 25, 2010 at our usual venue, the New American Shakespeare Tavern, http://www.shakespearetavern.com. 499 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308-3102, across from the Emory Hospital Midtown. Doors open at 6:15PM and authentic English fare and beverages will be available.

Admission is $15 and all net proceeds will go to the Atlanta Community Food Bank to help feed the less privileged during the holiday season. Tickets may be purchased at the door the day of the event or online in October at http://ear.tix.com. Cash and check please only at the door.

Come join us for our ongoing salute to The Golden Age of Radio as over 30 Atlanta artists turn back the hands of time and lend a helping hand to the ACFB! Lend us your ears and use your imagination!
