Want to do even better at auditions? Want to recover from dropped lines, lean how to keep moving after mistakes (yours or those of others), and make the best from unexpected situations? Then you need to enjoy a good dose of improv! Its more than just a comedic art form, it’s a way to survive and get ahead as an actor! This class will take you back to some basic fundamentals of how to approach a role and give you simple tools to use that will give you the confidence you need AND put you miles ahead of the competition! Its simple concepts that most actors know to use, but they don’t always remember how to best apply them. This improv class uses fun, hands-on exercises and games to bring home simple fundamentals you won’t soon forget! Ninety percent of auditions, in some form or fashion, include the art of improv! Students often uncover skills they didn’t even know they had! Look at acting in a whole new way, and have fun learning how to give directors, producers, and employers just what they’re looking for- quickly, smoothly, and with ease! The class is taught by improv performer and actor Barry McAlister. He has long been an on-camera actor and entertainer in the region. He is currently with the acclaimed troupe Improv Nashville, and has trained at the Second City in Chicago in improv and sketch comedy. He is was also a Wolf Trap Teaching Artist in Metro Nashville Schools. Roles he’s created include “the dead guy” in country artist Joe Diffie’s “Prop Me Up Beside the Juke Box”, and the ice skating $100 bill for First Tennessean and the Predators.
