The Alliance Theatre is holding an open call for its upcoming production of Avenue X. The sizzling sounds of doo-wop and R&B collide on a street corner in 1960’s Brooklyn in this revolutionary a cappella musical.

Available Roles:

CHUCK:  20s, Italian American, old world machismo and a quick temper.  Capable of violence, but also capable of lifetime loyalty.  A lover AND a fighter. Vocally Baritone with high B flat and a great falsetto.

PASQUALE:  20s, Italian-American, idealistic and ambitious.  A survivor who thinks on his feet and believes in making his own opportunity.  Smart and street smart. Vocally Baritone with high B flat and a great falsetto.

UBAZZ:  20s, Italian American, not the brightest bulb, but with a huge heart. Easily influenced and easily confused. Vocally Bass with a low G.

BARBARA:  20s – could be younger or older than her brother Pasquale, Italian American, smart and impatient, but frustrated by her life’s limitations.  A drinker who’s verging on “bad girl” territory, but not there yet. Vocally is an Alto.

MILTON:  20s, African American, determined to find a way out of Brooklyn.  Big heart but a quick temper and even quicker wit.  Total survivor. Vocally a Bari-tenor

WINSTON:  20s to early 30s, Jamaican-American, asthmatic.  A charmer who avoids violence and is looking for a guide. Vocally a Bari-tenor.

ROSCOE:  50s plus, African American, disappointed by his life and with a just below the surface rage as a result.  A drinker who was once almost an R and B star. Vocally a Baritone.

Actors should prepare one song (Musical, POP/Rock, or Gospel) accompanist will be provided.
