ATLFF Screenplay Competition  2011 ATLFF Screenplay Competition
LATE DEADLINE IS 2 WEEKS AWAY!

The Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Competition looks to discover high quality screenplays and then help the writer further develop and refine their script through an intensive workshop retreat with professional writers and filmmakers. Three (3) winning screenwriters will be invited to participate in a weekend retreat  where they will workshop their screenplay with industry professionals. Twelve to Fifteen finalists will be named, from which the three winning screenplays will be chosen.

Experience the chance to be mentored by writer, producer, director and consultant Michael Lucker. Mr. Lucker has penned more than twenty screenplays for Paramount, Dreamworks, Fox and Universal Pictures, including Vampire in Brooklyn, Home on the Range, and the Academy Award nominated animated feature, Spirit. He is also known for his work in creative affairs at Hollywood Pictures, developing such projects as Crimson Tide, Terminal Velocity, Taking Care of Business and Straight Talk. Be sure to look out for the spotlights on our other two mentors for the competition.

Claire Revisited: A 10 Year Celebration, A New Evolution

Milford Thomas’ CLAIRE, a 53 minute black and white short film shot on an antique handcrank 35mm, will reunite with the ORCHESTRA de LUNA for a special music and film presentation in Atlanta on November 3, 2011, exactly 10 years after its debut.  Support this awesome Atlanta filmmaker by pledging $1 to go towards securing a venue for the screening.

Exhibition Premier: The Water and The Blood

August 27, 2011- December 3, 2011

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is pleased to announce the opening of Micah Stansell: The Water and The Blood by AFF Special Jury Prize winning filmmaker, Micah Stansell. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Aug. 26th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. There will also be an Artist Talk with Stansell on Sept. 15 at 7pm. Both the Artist Talk and the Reception is FREE to the public. Micah Stansell: The Water and the Blood runs from Aug. 27 – Dec. 3, 2011.
