The Georgia Production Partnership (GPP) had a dynamic impact on this year’s Governor’s Tourism Conference.
During the conference, Governor Nathan Deal and the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office designated 23 Georgia additional counties as Camera Ready Communities. The program, originally created by GPP, now includes 112 counties across the state. Georgia is the only state that has developed a program like this.
According to state officials, more than 327 film and television productions were shot in Georgia during the fiscal year that ended June 30, delivering an economic impact of $2.4 billion.
Movies filmed in Georgia include the recently released “Contagion”, shot at Atlanta’s Center for Disease Control, the upcoming remake of “Footloose” and “Wanderlust” starring Jennifer Aniston.
Georgia can also be seen on the small screen with Season 3 of the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and AMC’s “The Walking Dead” returning this fall.
Other highlights from the event included a GPP hosted lunch where they premiered the Albany Tourism TV commercials, the grand prize for GPP’s online media contest where cities from around Georgia sent in “location stills” to help build the files at the Georgia Film, Music an Digital Entertainment Office.
In addition to lunch, GPP hosted a booth during the trade show to build awareness of the film industry in the state of Georgia. Attendees who visited the GPP booth were asked to add their voice to the filmmaking industry in Georgia.
GPP also sponsored three vacation give-aways that were won by:
1. Craig Dominey – The Mansion on Peachtree Spa Gift Package (One DaySpa treatment at 29 Spa at The Mansion on Peachtree)
2. Dawn Malin – The Northeast Georgia Wine Experience (Northeast Georgia Mountain Get-A-Way Package: 2 Night Stay at Glen Ella Springs Inn, Tiger Mountain Vinyard’s Wine Tasting, and Lunch for 2 at Grapes & Bean)
