Do you need to brush up on your on-camera experience?
The goal of this class is to teach basic auditioning skills for the camera, including understanding of framing, pace,
visual focus (different for camera than stage), blocking, vocal quality and script interpretation.
We will concentrate specifically on commercials and industrial films.
When: Saturday, August 25th
Time: 10:00 – 3:30pm (we will provide lunch)

This class offers a unique and special insight to understanding what Casting Directors, Directors, and Producers are looking for at a commercial audition.
YOU, the actor, will take on the roles of Client, Director and Casting Director.
YOU, the actor, will ‘audition’ other actors with sides from various spots.
YOU, the actor, will also take on the role of Actor, auditioning for the other
‘Clients/Directors/Casting Directors.’
Paige shares her years of experience as a Casting Director to help you, the actor, have the best audition you can have.

“Who Got That Job?”

Paige Johnston Thomas
Who DID get that job?? This workshop offers an unprecedented insight to the audition and decision making process – a view that you, as actors, rarely get to witness. You will be given sides from an actual C&J audition to work on in class. After working with Paige directly on those sides (valuable tips and tricks and techniques!) you then get to see the audition of the
person who actually got that job and discuss the
hows and whys of that decision process!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS:
TIM ROSS
Tim Has been a professional actor for nearly 30 years. Theatre credits include the title role in the World Premiere stage adaptation of Huckleberry Finn. Television credits includea recurring stint on Days of Our Lives, Unsolved Mysteries, Rescue 911 and Saved By the Bell. His Equity regional theatre credits include Brick–Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (w/Pat Hingle). Joe Farkus–The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Vinnie-Proposals. East coast basedtelevision include: One Tree Hill, Surface, The Mecklenburgers and dozens of national and regional commercials. Tim has also made literally hundreds of radio commercials for companies like Alltel mobile, Sundrop, HarrisTeeter and many more. In the commercial world, Tim has appeared in dozens of national, regional and local commercials. National commercial credits include Verizon, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Duracell Battery, BDO Accounting firm, Milton Bradley, Chrysler, Ford, Napa Car Care, Alltel, Sprint and Papa Johns. Tim is also a veteran of industrial non-broadcast films. His clients include: Office Depot, Eastman Kodak, WTVI (Live Host), BASF Chemicals, Glaxo-Wellcome, US Airways, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Broadway & Seymour and many more.
PAIGE JOHNSTON THOMAS
Paige Johnston Thomas is currently co-owner and Casting Director at C&J Casting. She received her Masters in Acting at UNC-Chapel Hill and performed as an actor for many years. She has been teaching auditioning workshops for over 10 years, and has taught hundreds of students the skills she has learned from working behind the camera. She is also a theatre director and has directed shows at Carolina Actors Studio Theatre and Theatre Charlotte.
