“What I Did Last Summer” Opening Next Week at GET

Georgia Ensemble Theatre proudly presents A.R. Gurney’s gentle and funny coming-of-age story, What I Did Last Summer, February 25-March 14, 2010, at our home in the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. You don’t want to miss this lovely play by one of America’s most prolific playwrights, directed by GET founding member Tess Malis Kincaid (pictured right) and featuring an amazing cast!

About the Play:
The time is summer of 1945. WWII has taken the world by storm. Husbands and fathers have had to join their countries’ forces in battles far and wide, leaving their families to attempt a normal existence without them. As one family spends their summer on the Canadian shore of Lake Erie, 14 year-old Charlie (Chris Moses) has flunked Latin, but rather than study, he wants to be swimming or playing pranks with his best friend (Eric Mendenhall). He takes a job as a handyman for a bohemian art teacher (Megan McFarland) who tries to stretch Charlie’s mind by teaching him painting and sculpture, leading to a showdown between the art teacher and Charlie’s mother (Mary Lynn Owen). This clash of philosophies will prove to be a turning point in shaping the man Charlie is destined to become.

Please Note: What I Did Last Summer is rated PG due to some mild language that may be inappropriate for young children.
