Quarterly Internship Launch

We get regular inquiries from people we do and do not know about internships for students. When we’ve had interns in the office, it has always been successful so we’re launching a quarterly (unpaid) internship schedule beginning (flexible on start date) May/June 2010.

Here are the details:

Houghton Talent, located in Atlanta’s West Midtown Design District, is a full service talent agency operating in Atlanta for 20 years,
Licensed with the state of Georgia and SAG/AFTRA franchised, we represent a range of talent including film/TV, broadcast, voiceover, print and entertainment.
Our team is known for being one of the most upbeat and positive in the industry and we pride ourselves in creating a supportive and fun work environment.

HOUGHTON internships may be useful to students studying marketing, public relations, communications, film & television, fashion marketing, entertainment law, photography or business administration.
Outgoing, assertive personalities are best suited to the fast-paced environment of a talent agency. Flexibility and quick thinking are absolutely necessary. The environment doesn’t allow much time for training so an intern must be a quick study. Here are the qualities we’re looking for:

• Self motivated individual with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Reasonable level of computer skills (PC/MAC)
• Outstanding, positive attitude in dealing with phones, casting and clients
• Punctual and dependable
• Willingness to perform work that is not glamorous (filing, data processing, etc)
• Fast learner with strong attention to detail
• Industry experience is desirable but not required, you should have an interest in learning as much as possible about the business.
Responsibilities: In a great opportunity to gain hands-on work experience, an intern acquires knowledge of the talent agency by working directly with agents in a fast- paced environment, assisting in day-to-day operations. May perform many duties including answering phones, filing or scanning photos, assisting with the uploading of pictures and resumes onto the web, updating social media, assisting staff during monologue auditions, and/or processing new contracts and applications into the model and talent database. Interns may assist bookers by informing talent of assignments and may run agency errands. Other potential tasks include working as a reader, camera operator, data sort and storage, reviewing submissions, and general office assistance.
Pay: Unpaid. Ability to receive college credit is preferred but not mandatory.
Hours: Work hours are flexible but should be available for at least 12 hours a week, currently reviewing candidates for:
JUNE – AUGUST 2010 up to 3 interns for 15-25 hrs/wk
SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER 2010 up to 2 interns for 15-25 hrs/wk

The advantages of internship include:
See how an agency is run and the logistics of talent agency work
Become familiar with casting companies and production houses (also options for a career choice).
Learn some basic aspects of marketing
Extensive observation of customer service and customer communication
Gain knowledge of electronic/print media and acting/theatrical/entertainment industries
Other advantages include:
Meeting lots of creative people
Loose, fun team of agents
Exposure to acting and learning opportunities
From a previous intern:
“I really enjoyed my internship at Houghton Talent! Being able to work with seasoned professional talent agents and a diverse population of talent on a daily basis enhanced my professional and personal development skills more than I can say. The fact that my mentors and supervisors never treated me as an intern but rather a family member enabled me to eventually become a part of the Houghton Talent Team. I was able to interact with talent, create talent profiles, coordinate and schedule auditions, assist with talent bookings, and much much more! I could never express how much the internship program at Houghton Talent supported and engaged me in my success!” Verda Watson
